The Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update has been a great update in terms of the success and engagement it has generated among players. Here we discuss one of the newest blocks in the game, Minecraft Calcite, and look at everything that has been released about it so far!
The first part of the Caves and Cliffs update was the first half of the full update, which aimed to rethink the entire mountains. The cliffs and cave biome in the overworld also introduce new features. This included new blocks, monsters, and items for players to find and harvest as the item selection in Minecraft continues to expand.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Minecraft Calcite block and its features.
Calcite Minecraft

Calcite is a new block added in the first part of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update, along with many new geodes such as Amethyst and Copper Ores.

Minecraft calcite is characterized by its distinctive white color and cobblestone-like pattern on the surface. The glowing white block can only be found in one structure in the game.
How is calcite found?
Calcite is a carbonate geode that can be found in-game with the Amethyst Geode and is only created with accumulating Amethyst Geodes.
This is only found in the second layer of the full Amethyst Geode, which has three layers in total. The first layer is a blanket Smooth basalt, which forms a shell around the calcite blocks. This can occur anywhere from Y 80 to bedrock. Therefore, finding a ton of smooth basalt is a simple way to determine the presence of calcite.
After mining the basalt layer, players will encounter a calcite layer, which they can extract using the aforementioned wooden pickaxe. Below the second calcite layer is the amethyst geode layer then a hollow center.
Uses of Calcite

There are currently no practical uses for the Calcite block in the game, as no crafting or brewing recipes using it have been released. It is not used in any of the mechanisms and is purely decorative.
However, as this is a new block, players can expect new additions to the game in later stages that will incorporate this block into their usage.
